As with any yoga practice, where you are matters. Where your capabilities are, where your mind is — your surroundings, your history, your goals; the entirety of the Brick City Yoga experience was built, brick-by-brick to accommodate the unique positions of the people that make up where we are — The St. Louis community.
Brick City Yoga opened in January of 2019 with a goal of becoming part of the community by creating an inclusive environment and offering affordable classes to all students. Our weekly classes are $10 no matter what; we don’t charge credit card fees or membership fees, and to keep pay fair for instructors, you’ll never see our classes on a discount site. We offer approximately 20 classes a week, ranging from classes suitable to those who have never been on a mat to those who practice daily. We also offer yoga for anxiety and a monthly women’s circle.
We partner with the community by hosting pop up events – on May 20th, Athleta will Storm the Studio during our 7 p.m. Flow. We invest in our community by donating a portion of a Sunday class to a local non-profit each month with our Brick City Gives Back program. Right now, we are collecting period supplies for the St. Louis Alliance for Period Supplies, our May charity partner.
In addition to weekly classes and events, we are dedicated to offering programming for both instructors and students that enhance their practice on and off the mat. Recently, we hosted Prison Yoga Project in the studio. Approximately 27 yoga instructors attended and learned how they could bring reformative justice to their communities through yoga. In August, we will host a Yoga for Amputees training as part of our mission to keep yoga accessible.
“Our name is not only a nod to our great city, but a promise to serve as a foundation for our community.”
